The 72nd Warnemunde Woche, host for the 2009 Raceboard Worlds, has recorded a record entry, with 113 competitors from 16 countries, representing 3 continents.[more] Not since the early years of the class have so many “longboards” come together for this championship – 111 competitors on equipment ranging from the old (Fanatic Mega Cat, Mistral OD, FR Race …) and the new (Exocet Warp, Starboard Phantom 380), only 2 competitors opting to race on hybrid (RSX) equipment. Two days of racing have been completed. The fleet will race a qualifying round followed by a final round where the fleet splits into Gold and Silver. Leading the men’s fleet after 4 races: Martin Moritz (GER 5) who last weekend won the German “Open” Raceboard Championship, closely followed by Max Wojcik (POL 7) and current European champion Patrik Pollak (SVK 1). There is very little separating these 3 sailors in these early stages! Leading the women’s fleet – Gabrielle Schotmann (GER 81) who has not lost a race so far, followed by Jana Slivova (CZE 26) and Martina Hruba (CZE 251)
