The 2026 Raceboard World Championships are underway in Blanes, with the championship returning to the Spanish venue for the third time. Following Monday’s opening ceremony and Class Annual General Meeting, Tuesday brought the first three races and the first leaders of the week.

Hosted by Club Vela Blanes, the championships run from 7 to 12 September, bringing the Raceboard community together for competition and important discussions about the class’s future. Event information

The opening day ashore combined celebration with class business. At the AGM on 7 September, members voted on key issues concerning class policies and procedures, before attention turned to racing on Tuesday.

Huguet leads after a consistent opening day

France’s Nicolas Huguet made a strong start in the Raceboard fleet, winning the first two races and finishing second in the third. His four-point total gives him a four-point advantage over Spain’s Alex Rivera, whose 3–2–3 scoreline places him second on eight points.

Fellow Spaniard Alex Buchau completes the leading trio on 11 points after finishes of fourth, third and fourth. Slovakia’s Patrik Pollak sits fourth on 15 points, followed by Spain’s Alvaro Rivera Rodriguez on 17.

Spain’s Curro Manchon claimed the third race, adding a victory to his second place in the opener. However, a black-flag disqualification in race two leaves him 15th on 55 points. With no discards applied, all three scores currently count.

Arauz Garcia takes three wins; Mailhos leads the women

Arturo Arauz Garcia delivered a perfect opening day in the combined U17–U21–Women fleet. The Spanish U21 sailor won all three races to lead on three points.

France’s Jeanne Mailhos is second in the combined standings and the leading woman, with a second and two third places giving her eight points.

Spain’s Rafael Aguilera Gutíerrez leads the U17 men and sits third overall on 14 points, just one point ahead of fellow U17 sailor Rafael Jodral de Benavides.

Eloísa Tarancón rounds out the combined top five on 22 points and is the leading U21 woman. Lucas Sénéchal Công-Thé and Lucia Selma Cruz follow on 24 points apiece, ranked sixth and seventh respectively.

Another sailor showing front-running pace was Ignacio Fernandez, who finished second in both races two and three. A U-flag disqualification in the opening race places him 13th overall on 40 points.

An opening chapter in a full championship week

The two published results sheets list 86 competitors: 51 in the Raceboard Men fleet and 35 in the combined U17–U21–Women fleet. With three races recorded in each and no discards yet applied, consistency has established the early order, while starting penalties have already affected several contenders.

The championships continue through Saturday, 12 September, with plenty still to race for in Blanes.
