On two race areas of approximately 12 kilometers, two regattas were raced, marking the beginning of the competitions of the Youth & Children World Championship of Windsurf Mistral 2003.

The night prior, the Governor of the state of Yucatan, Patricio Patron Laviada inaugurated the competitions and welcomed every competitor and trainer.

The numerous assistance from relatives of the competitors, gave a good ambiance to the event, while the participating countries paraded.

In his own words, the governor of Yucatan talked about the tragic visit of the hurricane Isidore months ago over Telchac – the host seatown of the event – and about the catastrophic damage that the storm left behind.

“We had to rebuild everything to bring you here today. Thank you for the trust that you have placed in Yucatan”

After the first day of competitions, these are the preliminary results of each of the first places per category.
