It is with mixed feelings we bid farewell to Rory from the post of Executive Secretary of IWA – we will miss his guiding hand on the tiller, but at the same time recognise our loss is someone else’s gain. [more]

It was inevitable that last November’s ISAF decision would impact upon the activity and management structure of the IWA.

Rory recognised this possibility, and not being the sort of guy to sit around, pursued new opportunities, qualifying in another of his passions (yes – there is more to life than windsurfing!) . . . big boat sailing.

Rory can, proudly, add to his collection of qualifications “Ocean Yachtmaster”.

He has, in addition to his vast amount of experience managing an Olympic class and as a race officer, the ISAF qualifications of International Jury and International Measurer.

Despite his new job skippering a “boat”, we are sure he will be still be putting himself “about” at IWA events for a while yet!

Meanwhile – it will be business as normal in the IWA Office. Annie Smith, IWA Administrative Secretary, will continue with the “day to day” activity in her usual efficient manner; and the Management Sub Committee will continue to ensure delivery of a first class service to the membership.

We all wish Rory further success in his new venture.
