Leipaja, Latvia, is playing host to 2 major events as part of an inaugural Festival of Windsurfing – the 2009 Raceboard European Championships and round one of the 2009 Baltic Sea Cup.  [more]


The Baltic Sea Cup is a regional series designed to develop international experience for young racers in the Techno293 and RSX Youth classes.


Over 40 competitors from 7 countries have travelled to Leipaja, which offers good conditions for racing from a beautiful sandy beach.


A full days racing was enjoyed by all fleets – with 4 races for Raceboard and RSX youth, and 3 races for Techno 293.


Leading the Raceboard European Championships is SVK1 – Patrik Pollak – undefeated today!  Leading the women is another ex olympic racer LAT1 – Vita Matise.


Youth competitor LAT 30 – Rihards Akmentins – with 3 secod places, lies a comfortable 2nd overall; with FIN 6 – Juha Petri Blinnikka – in third overall.


Three countries share the honours at the top of the fleets for Baltic Sea Cup.

The previous evening competitors, officials and guests were welcomed by representatives from Leipaja City Council and Latvian Windsurfing Association. The official opening was concluded by an innovative and entertaining performance by the Leipaja Navy Orchestra.
