The 2012 Raceboard World Championships kicks off in Yyteri, Finland this week where World Champion Patrik Pollak, from Slovakia, took his third Raceboard European Champion title in 2011. Fantastic racing conditions allowed thirteen races [more] in soaring temperatures last year – can we expect the same for this week’s world championships? Windguru suggests perhaps not but nevertheless it should be an exciting contest.
It was a tough battle for Patrik Pollak (SVK 1) to take the Men’s title against Curro Manchon (ESP 9) in L’Hospitalet de L’Infant, Spain last year, and 2010 World Champion Max Wojcik is also hungry for the title.
In the pre-entry list we already have competitors from 11 countries, 4 continents, and we look forward to seeing the final competitor entry list after close of registration on Tuesday morning. Many have arrived early to take advantage of pre-competition training. Racing begins on Tuesday afternoon.
A note of thanks to Starboard for providing charter of Phantom 377’s.
Yyteribeach, home of the Finnish Boardsailing Association, is one of Finland’s most beautiful sandy beaches, about 4 km long, with shallow water and a sandy bottom, located in the beautiful Gulf of Yyteri, very close to the city of Pori on the west coast. The best wind directions for Yyteribeach are from south-southwest to west-northwest (155o-295o).
