After three races on Day 1 of the 2026 Raceboard European Championships in Monsaraz, Portugal, the fleet has already delivered close racing and an exciting battle at the top of the standings.
Portuguese legend João Rodrigues takes the overnight lead with an impressive scoreline of 2-1-2 and just 5 points overall. Spain’s Jorge Maciel Andres sits in second place on 8 points after opening the regatta with a race win, while fellow Spaniard Alexander Buchau completes the provisional podium after a remarkably consistent first day.
The fleet of 38 competitors enjoyed three races in classic Raceboard conditions, with experienced Grand Masters leading the charge but strong performances also coming from the Senior and Youth divisions. Alex Rivera moved into fourth overall after winning the final race of the day.
With no discard yet in play, consistency proved crucial on Day 1, and the leaderboard remains tight heading into the next stage of the championship.
