With still two days to go in the championships the race committee has already managed to conduct 11 races for the Raceboarders and 10 for the DII class. And today we had three great races with the wind ranging from 10 to 16 kts. [more]
But nobody had suspected this in the morning. The forecast showed some wind early in the day so the competitors were asked to come for an early start at 9:30. It did not pay off as the wind did not show up and we had to wait 5 more long hours to be called afloat. The clouds and rain did not help, but it was worth the wait. As soon as Ewa Jodlowska, the PRO of the event, asked the sailors to come for racing the wind increased and although the weather was not perfect some exciting races were conducted.
Aron Gadorfalvi has extended his lead in the men’s with two first places and a second and if nothing happens he is on his way to get the European Championship for Hungary. His teammate Bence Santa is in second followed by Petr Kucera from the Czech Republic.
Over in the women’s fleet also a good day for the locals. After a solid performance, Sara Cholnoky is now in third and trails 7 points to the second Ilona Grinberga and 8 points to the leader Viviane Ventrin.
Although trailing a race the DII can also be happy with the day. Irek Kutyla still leads the fleet with a solid point advantage, but the climax for the class was the AGM, where representatives from many countries could express their ideas on growing the class in the future. What is more they still managed to join the rest of the fleet for the Rock n Roll concert at which all the sailors partied until the night.
Luckily we start later tomorrow with the first possible warning signal at 14:00
