46 competitors from 12 countries have so far registered for the Raceboard Masters in Poland. The regatta will take place between the 15th and the 20th of May and will be held in Gizycko.[more]
Gizycko is the largest town in the region, located at the very heart of the Great Masurian Lake District, which is ranked as one of the most beautiful regions in Europe and one of the top 14 in the world! The town is surrounded on all sides by more than 100 lakes. Situated on a narrow strip of land between Lake Niegocin and Lake Kisajno, Gizycko attracts visitors with its picturesque nature, exceptional attractions and interesting events that never fail to deliver positive vibes and energy.
“We pride ourselves on being home to one of the largest garrisons in Poland and one of the seven Olympic training centres used by top Polish athletes. Gizycko is home to the most creative people in the world! We are particularly proud of our sailors – world champions Janek Malecki and Julia Szmit – as well as many talented young athletes,” said Wojciech Karol Iwaszkiewicz, Mayor of Gizycko.
“I firmly believe that we live in a truly wonderful place. Come visit Gizycko to meet its exceptional people and discover the secrets of a picturesque town at the heart of the Great Masurian Lake District, considered by many as the most beautiful region in Europe and one of the most enchanting corners of the world,” he added.
The event itself should be very exciting – with at least 5 sailors in each division the battle for the medals is going to be intense. Slovakia’s Patrik Pollak will be there to defend the title. “It wasn’t easy last year on the lake of Riga as it turned out quite a challenge for many of us more used to the sea breeze,” he said after taking the crown last year. We can be sure that it will not be easy this year either as sailing on a lake could provide challenging conditions.
The event is still open for registration in the last three weeks before it starts. If you’d like to take part please enter online. More on the event website.
See you all at the Masters!
