On the first weekend of December ended our 2012 Raceboard, Techno 293 and Hibrids State Windsurfing Championships.[more]
9 of the 10 programmed stages from March to December were completed. Only stage 5 was not validated due to lack of wind and the only stage we did outside of Sao Paulo.
Throughout the year 45 sailors participated and the Kids division contributed with a total of 10 sailors.
At the Kids division the lowest number of sailors participating in a stage was 4 in stage 8 and the highest number was 9 in stage 6. In the main division the smallest number was 12 sailors in stage 3 and the greatest number was 26 in stage 9.
For 2013 we will all work to increase those numbers, always with special attention to the Kids division, which is where lies the future of our sport. But, if a few “windsurfing dinosaurs” will be hoping to return to races they all will be welcome. The races will be happening according to the schedule and the fun will be there for everyone.
Special thanks to Team Brazil/CNG Club, to Tempo Windsurf Club, to FEVESP (our State Sailing Authority), to the National Race Officers Alexandre Ferraz and Gustavo Leibovici, and the parents of the Kids Division sailors who believed in what was proposed for them by FEVESP Windsurfing coordination and fully supported by Team Brazil / CNG Club.
For 2013 a few projects for the Kids division and for the more experienced who wants to share it. We are planning 2 camps/workouts in places with more wind (Sao Sebastiao and Araruama) and more chopped / wavy sea waters (Santos). Also, we are going to set up displacements and accommodations to run some stages of the Rio de Janeiro 2013 State Championship and the 2013 Raceboard, Techno 293, RS:One and Hibrids Nationals Championships to be held in the city of Salvador / Bahia. Still depending on the technical level of our kids fleet we can go also to the 2013 South American Championships to be held in Cordoba / Argentina from 28/03 to 01/04.
Now we need to fix for the next week our prize giving ceremony, with lots of pizza and fun.
Congratulations to all.
