65 km from Mendoza City, Lake Potrerillos is a scenic recreational area offering camping, lodging, rafting, kayaking, horseback riding, climbing and trekking as entertainment. It is also a fantastic venue to host a windsurfing event!
A large dam on the Mendoza River forms an artificial lake that measures 12 km in length and 3 km in maximum width, and is blessed with consistant and daily thermal winds. These “planing” conditions have encouraged the development of facilities lakeside to cater for windsurfers and to provide a great venue for racing events.
This year’s championship is the second major international windsurfing event to be organised on the Lake by the Associacion Mendocina de Windsurf, a very active and enthusiastic group of windsurfers based in Mendoza City.
Supported by the Federacion Argentina de Yachting these championships are guaranteed the technical expertise required to deliver a memorable event, as competitors who attended the 2007 Raceboard Worlds can testify.
